Andrew D. Gathy, Patent Attorney
Andrew D. Gathy is actively involved in all areas of intellectual property law. He has extensive experience before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and patent offices throughout the world. He is actively involved with counseling clients about the protection of intellectual property assets, managing intellectual property portfolios, and the licensing and sale of proprietary technologies.
Andrew has counseled on a wide variety of technologies, including: fuel cell systems, cogeneration systems, clean energy systems, gas turbines, waste heat recovery systems, fuel processing systems, automotive/transportation systems, aerospace systems, steam generators, optics, catalysts, semiconductors, oil recovery systems, ORC systems, and HVAC systems.
Andrew is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute holding a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an A.S. in Electronics from Western Nevada Community College. He earned his J.D. and an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord New Hampshire.
Andrew began his career at Cantor Colburn, LLC and was an associate at Sierra Patent Group. Prior to joining Bachman & LaPointe, he was Intellectual Property Counsel for UTC Power Corporation and Clear Edge Power Corporation.
Andrew has lectured at MIT Sloan School of Management, Babson College, Western New England University School of Law and New York Academy of Sciences. The topics have included the use of intellectual property as a business tool and general intellectual property.
Andrew is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
